Kana Kubota
Bio

Founder & Director of Jonan Music & Dance School in Fukuoka, Japan.
Originally from Japan, Kana Kubota came to NYC
to continue her graduate study in music.
Kana received Master's Degree in Music Education at
Teachers College, Columbia University.



Kana specializes in:
Argentine Tango, (social, performance, choreography)
Strong Emphasis on lead & follow, musicality,
navigation skills on the floor, for beginners.
Solid foundation and technique, extensive training
for intermediate through advanced,
devoted dancers.

Also:
Ballroom-- (Foxtrot, Waltz, Quickstep, etc.)
Kana is highly trained in
International-Style Competitive Ballroom.
However she extends her teaching to:
Beginners to advanced, and competitors.
Wedding couples (preparation for your first dance),
Crash Course: Quick and fun lessons (Salsa, Swing, etc.),
before upcoming parties (Salsa, Swing), vacation, cruise, etc.




Kana's love and passion for music and dance took her to
training in musical theater, tap dancing, ballet, and ballroom dancing.
Kana Kubota was trained in ballroom by
top level competitors and champions, including
Sandra Cameron, Bill Davis, Jonathan Wilkins,
Steven Dougherty, Clive Philips,
and a remarkable choreographer Peter DiFalco.



After competing ballroom for years, Kana Kubota fell in love with
Argentine Tango.



Following Daniel Trenner's teachers training, she went to
Beunos Aires and attended professional seminar with
Osvaldo Zotto & Lorina Ermocida.
Kana Kubota continued intensive study in NYC
with Diego DiFalco & Carolina Zokalski.
Kana Kubota also studied with legendary Carlos Gavito.



Kana is also a musician who has taught
(piano, voice, music theory) and performed extensively,
and loves to teach dancing for musicians.
Dance lessons for musicians by a musician/dancer
has been well received by numerous professional musicians.




Kana teaches at Ripley Grier Sudio, (36th St., 55th St, 72nd St.) in Manhattan, and
other locations in
NY & Tri-State Area, and Rhode Island..

Kana Kubota has taught at Dance New York (NYC),
New York Athletic Club(NYC), Greenwich House Music Schol (NYC),
Rivertown Art Council (NY), Steps (NYC), Stevens' Institute of Technology (NJ),
Kean University (NJ), Vassar College (NJ), Narragansett Towers (RI),
East Greenwich High School (RI), Central Falls High School (RI),
Middeltown High School (RI), DanceSport (formerly USABDA) events, and
Japanese American Association (NYC), and Hartford Tango Intention (CT),
Safira's Center of World Dance (KA), and many other institutions.



She and her partners are available for performance,
classes (at corporate or private parties, fund raising, special events),
choreography, and workshops .




Kana Kubota has also taught and performed at La Boca,
NYC Tango Festival every year since 2002 through 2007.
